Senior Scholarship Boot Camp

Attention Class of 2018! This is your chance to get assistance locating and writing scholarship applications. Each year our community awards thousands of dollars in scholarships to seniors for a variety of reasons. You can't receive college scholarship money if you do not complete an application!

Scholarship Book Camp Information:

Where: Media Center at New Smyrna Beach High School

When: Thursday, January 18, 2018

Time: Students who register will be assigned to one of the three, boot-camp sessions.

Sessions:

Session 1: 8:00 am to 9:00 am

Session 2: 9:15 am to 10:15 am

Session 3: 10:30 am to 11:30 pm

NEW SMYRNA BEACH HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES for 2017-2018

Below is a list of local scholarship opportunities for the 2017-2018 school year. Please note that the scholarships offered are only for New Smyrna Beach High School Seniors.

Please read the requirements carefully and provide all the requested information.  Students are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Please continue to visit our website to check on any additional scholarship opportunities as they become available. The application submission deadline has been extended to March 30, 2018.  Please note that some scholarships have special deadline dates that do not fall into the March 30 deadline.

Scholarship Boot Camp – Get a jump on applying for local scholarships by attending the boot camp on Thursday, January 18, 2018 (noon) in the Media Center. Get help completing the application and writing your essay. Be sure to bring a flash drive, a rough draft of your essay and a copy of the Scholarship Booklet, with the scholarships highlighted, that you want to apply for.
Do not forget to sign-up for your Senior Scholarship Boot Camp session in the Guidance Office.

Community and Alumni Providing Scholarships (CAPS)

1. Total cost of college is $17,020 a year (No out-of-state tuition fee)

2. Minimum GPA requirement of 2.0

3. Institutional scholarships start at a 2.5 GPA. Students with a 3.0 GPA and and a 18 ACT or 860 SAT, they will qualify for $5,000 in scholarships. The higher the GPA and ACT/SAT score the higher the scholarship amount.

Parentinn Cyberbullying for Teens Scholarship (For All High School Students)

Parentinn's Scholarship has achieved a major impact on raising awareness of Cyberbullying to all students.

In an effort to the cause of preventing cyberbullying, we have created the “Cyberbullying Prevention for Teens Scholarship” for High School students.

Award: $1250 for High School students.

Deadline: Feb 28th, 2018 - We run this scholarship annually.

Sugar Mill Elementary School P.T. A. Scholarship

The Army SFC Matthew L. Eskridge Memorial Award

A $500 scholarship is awarded to a graduating student from any High School within Volusia County. The criteria for this award is very different. The recipient is selected by Rolling Thunder's Education Program Awards Committee, and is based on several key elements relating to veterans, and prisoners of war-missing in action (POW-MIA).

The Rules and Conditions under which the scholarship is awarded and the program administered. To be eligible to apply:

1. Applicants must be a high school senior residing in Volusia County.

2. Applicants must be a relative of active military, retired service member or veteran.

3. Applicants must submit an essay explaining, in detail what he/she has done to promote the education of the POW MIA issue and how they have or what they have done in support of active military and/or veterans.

4. The SFC Matthew L. Eskridge Memorial Scholarship must be used by the recipient to pursue their education or as needed should they join the military upon high school graduation.
