Many thanks to New Smyrna Beach EMS and Fire Department, City of Edgewater Fire Department, Edgewater Police Department and Volusia County Sheriff's Department for their assistance in presenting the "Mock Crash" to NSBHS seniors and juniors in preparation for prom scheduled for April 19th, 2019.

New Smyrna Beach Christmas Parade

December 1, 2018 - NSBHS participated in the annual parade.  The parade route was at the NSB Waterfront Loop from Flagler Avenue to Canal Street in New Smyrna Beach. Marching bands, decorated floats, dancers and even troupes of horses traveled the Canal Street Historic District in New Smyrna Beach to bring the "Lights and Sounds of Christmas" to the beautiful seaside town.

Princial Matthew Krajewski and Assistant Principal Julian Doster lead the Barracuda Band in the parade!

Paradise Power Sports Donation

Paradise Power Sports in New Smyrna Beach donated the customization and design of our school logo on one of our golf carts.

Paradise Power Sports is also giving back a portion of their profits to different businesses each quarter. They have selected our Athletic Program to be their first recipient!

We are very appreciate of their partnership!

Dear Cuda Seniors,

Strong in your will, true to your nature, you will surpass this trying time and we want you to know we are thinking about you.

As we move forward with many questions please know that as soon as we have information and/or answers we will share.

If you have academic concerns you may e-mail your counselor directly. Please be patient. As administrators we will personally be reviewing each senior's academic progress and make sure you are completing what is required for graduation.

The Class of 2020 Rocks!

Coronavirus Information

March 24, 2020

At-Home Instructional Learning Update:

We have school district teams working around the clock to ensure at-home core class instruction (ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies) can begin on March 30 for all students (VPK-12th grade).

Digital Option: Families will be able to participate in the virtual learning using their own technology and internet access. Next week, more information will be shared regarding the online digital resource platforms including login information. This learning should begin March 30. We are also working on instructional videos to help parents and students navigate the learning platforms. These videos are expected to go out early next week.

Print Option: Paper packets are also available for pick up for those who do not have internet or technology at home or will need a packet. If a student needs a paper packet (they do not have technology or internet access at home), they will be available for pick up at elementary schools at the same time as the iPad pick-ups listed in the chart below. The packets will be available at Middle and High Schools Thursday, March 26 and Friday, March 27. (Please note specific pick up times for middle and high schools will be made available next week for each school site. )

Technology Checkout & Deployment Overview:

To support the at-home instructional plan, a limited number of iPads and laptops will be distributed from school sites for check out. Data collected from the Technology at Home Survey will guide the deployment of devices for schools. iPad deployments will take place March 25-27 at each K-5th grade school site during a designated date and time (please see chart below). Laptop deployments will take place April 6-9 at each 6th -12th grade school site during a designated date and time (further details will be shared early next week).

Elementary K-5 Students:

For those elementary students who do not have technology at home and would like to check out an iPad we have set these dates and times below for elementary school students who need to borrow iPads. Please know, we have a limited number of devices.

Congratulations Riley Swanson and Samantha Sydeski as recipients of the 2020 Medallion of Excellence Award.

Each year, The News-Journal celebrates the outstanding work of area high schools through its Medallion of Excellence Awards program. Medallion of Excellence award-winners are students who not only achieve high academic scholarship, but who also stand out in extracurricular and community activities in areas including but not limited to the arts, sports, volunteerism and leadership. This is quite an honor and we commend you both on your accomplishments!

All 11th grade students will take the SAT at no cost during the school day April 14, 2020. The following are other key benefits of participating in the SAT School Day.

• Testing on a school day does not interfere with weekend work or family obligations.

• Students test in a familiar location with staff they know which may reduce stress associated with testing.

• Students who have been struggling academically are provided with another opportunity to demonstrate their college readiness to universities.

• Students who take the SAT can use College Board programs that support college access, including college application fee waivers and four free score sends.

• Students can access Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy® and career planning resources at Roadtrip Nation.

Additionally, students can also meet Florida Grade 10 English Language Arts and Algebra 1 End-of-Course Assessment graduation requirements if concordant or comparative reading and math scores are used. More information related to statewide assessment graduation requirements is available at

For additional information, including practice tests and sample questions regarding this assessment, please refer to the SAT School Day Student Guide or visit the CollegeBoard website at

Additional information will be sent home to all juniors within the next few weeks. Please encourage your student to attend this testing opportunity.

If you have any questions, please contact Deborah Croak at 424-2555 ext. 38585 or [email protected].
