School Counseling Director
Ms. Johnson has been a Certified School Counselor with Volusia County Schools for 27 years. She earned a Bachelor's degree from Florida A & M University in Journalism and a Master's degree in School Counseling from the University of Central Florida. She received National Board Certification in 2006. She enjoys reading, physical fitness, spending time with family and friends, scrapbooking, and college football (Go Noles)! She is a member of the Volusia School Counselor Association and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She is the proud mother of two wonderful adult children, a precious daughter-in-law, and a 12 pound yorkie poo. She is also a loving "Mema" to her adorable grandson, Elias.
Seniors - Class of 2021
Mrs. Weeks earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from West Virginia Wesleyan College and her Master’s degree in School Counseling from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. She was a school counselor at Northampton High School in Pennsylvania and more recently, the 8th grade counselor at River Springs Middle School in Orange City. She is married and has two sons. Mrs. Weeks is a huge fan of volleyball, having both played and coached at the collegiate level.
Juniors - Class of 2022
Mrs. Heath has been a Certified School Counselor with Volusia County Schools since 2006. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Warner University and her Master's Degree in School Counseling from Barry University. She is a Cuda through and through and enjoys heling her students grow into young adults. She loves football and is happiest on Friday nights, wearing black and red, and cheering for the Cudas. She is married with two children, both graduates form FSU. #GONOLES
Sophomores - Class of 2023
Mrs. Hepburn has been an educator for Volusia County Schools since 2003. She has served as an Elementary Education teacher and in 2009 began her role as a Certified School Counselor with Volusia County Schools. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida and her Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Webster University. She is a proud wife and mother to three wonderful children. She enjoys attending football games and spending time with her family. She is exicted to return to New Smyrna Beach High School. #nobodyhasitbetterthanus
Freshmen - Class of 2024
Mrs. Burns is a native Floridian that has lived in Volusia County since she was 2 years old. She is a proud mom of a daughter and step-daughter AND 2 yellow labradors. She is very family oriented and loves spending time with her husband and family. Her extracurricular activities include surfing, working in her yard, and reading. Her background includes teaching, psychotherapy, and school counseling.
School Counselor - College & Career Readiness
Ms. Carter loves learning! She earned her Bachelor's degree in Social Science Education, Master's degree in School Counseling, and a Graduate Certificate in College and Career Counseling all from the University of Central Florida, where she is currently a doctoral candidate. She has worked as a teacher in Palm Beach County and with Florida virtual School, then as a Certified School Counselor in Seminole County before coming to Volusia. Her passion is helping students plan for their futures, and she is a Certified Career Advisor. In her space time, she enjoys cooking, reading, volunteering, and spending time with her family.
